How Can severe Nausea Along With Headache Be Treated?

I ve felt nauseous all day, weak, no energy, a little shaky, and have a slight headache. Is there anything I can do at home to get rid of these? FYI, I did start taking a new med. 2 days ago called Trimethoprim after my Dr. diagnosed me with urinary tract infection. This is the first time I ve ever had this infection, and those symptoms are gone now. Thanks.

Hello,

Both nausea and headache can be possible side effects of trimethoprim.

Depending on how severe the symptoms are, you can try to take frequent small amounts of food and fluids during the day to reduce nausea.

If it is not severe and if it is severe you might talk to your doctor and he may change the antibiotic with another (if you still need to use antibiotics) or he can give you a pill for nausea (metoclopramide).

As for a headache you can try some Paracetamol and Ibuprofen, it might be difficult to keep them if you are nauseous but try to take them with little water and not to eat or drink for at 30 minutes after taking the pills so you don't get nauseous and vomit.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Take care

Regards,
